Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can affect people of all ages, but its incidence increases with age, with approximately one in every three people age 65 and over experiencing some level of hearing loss. However, while hearing loss may be more common among the elderly, one in ten Americans of all ages report hearing loss. This is because causes of hearing loss are not restricted by age.

Unfortunately, hearing loss at any age can be frustrating, leaving its victims feeling isolated, insecure, and unable to interact competently with others. Untreated, it can even lead to difficulty with speech.

Audiological Evaluation

If you are having hearing difficulties or believe your hearing is impaired due to disease or an injury, a hearing evaluation is your best option. Our doctors provide a complete audiological evaluation, including testing and establishing details about your family history and hearing needs. It will take about 30 minutes to evaluate.

The evaluation is designed to provide information regarding the type and degree of your hearing loss, as well as what may have caused it. Expect to answer questions about health history, what environments and situations cause you hearing difficulty.

Hearing Aids

Hearing aids make a big difference in quality of life for those who suffer from hearing loss. By making it possible to once again hear sounds and discern conversation from background noise, hearing aids remove the isolation and depression that can come with hearing loss. Today’s technology has made hearing aids a great solution for a wide range of hearing issues.

Tinnitus / Cerumen

Tinnitus is a ringing or buzzing in one or both ears. It is frequently a symptom of hearing loss, but there are many other health conditions that may cause tinnitus.

Cerumen, or a buildup of wax in the ear, can cause everything from discomfort to hearing loss. It can be a problem at any age.
