Allergy Testing
An allergic reaction is your body’s immune system attacking a substance that has entered the body. The substance is normally harmless, but your immune system overreacts, producing histamines to fight the substance it has identified as foreign and causing the many symptoms we consider allergies.
Nasal allergies are among the most common allergies, with symptoms including sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, cough, and hives, often caused by such substances at dust, pollen, mold, and animal dander.
Allergy Treatment
Allergies usually are not life-threatening, however, symptoms can be disruptive to work and school routines and can detract from the quality of life. Food allergies frequently require detailed attention, especially if the food is common or it is a common ingredient in other foods.
Treatment generally falls into one of three categories: environmental elimination, suppression with medication, and allergy shots. Our team has found incorporating multiple approaches is usually the most successful in managing symptoms.
